791-22
Hybrid Forage Sorghum
- Sorghum x Sudan Grass
- Ultra Delayed Flowering
- Photoperiod sensitive to ensure flowering time
- High Forage Yields
- Easy Spray out with glysophate
- Excellent option for green manure crop
- Rapid regrowth and recovery
Fine stemmed forage sorghum that is photoperiod sensitive, ensuring it is ultra-late flowering. This ensures ease of management, particularly over large areas in periods of wet weather when cutting may be delayed. This is a versatile all round hybrid ideally suited to either intensive or range grazing. It is also very suited for greenchop, hay making and silage. Grazing or cutting should not be unnecessarily delayed even though 791-22 is delayed flowering. It is recommended to use the crop when it is around 1m-1.5 tall. During favourable conditions regrowth is rapid allowing the potential for multiple cuts or grazing throughout the season. Trails in the Ord River Region of Western Australia showed 791-22 was cut at 1.5m tall and recut again 4 weeks later at 1.6m. Cutting at 2m-2.5m tall is possible but this reduces regrowth potential and feed quality.
